To provide all kinds of radiological services for the patient care, teaching and research. This include:
We are having different x-ray machines with varying capacity to suit the different radiographic views . High frequency machine is used for chest and abdomen . All radiation protection measures are taken. In all examinations we try to keep the radiation dose as low as reasonably achievable.
Various contrast studies like Barium studies, Intravenous urography, Retrograde Pyelography, Cystogram, Urethrogram, voiding cystourethrography, various arteriograms, Venograms, Sinusogram, Sailogram, Hysterosalpingogram etc.
Contrast studies, also called special investigations , are conducted mainly by the radiologists. We undertake most of the investigations ranging from barium and IVU to angiogram, myelogram and hysterosalpingogram (HSG).
Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute had installed CT scan at the earliest opportunity to begin with we were having a third generation body scanner. Recently we have installed a multislice spiral CT scanner. All CT investigations including angiograms, sagittal and coronal reformations, virtual bronchoscopy and virtual colonoscopy are routinely done. Image guided biopsy, FNAC and interventional procedures also are routine.
On an average 5 mammograms are done daily. As it is a screening modality for early detection of breast cancer the rates are kept low. X-ray mammography will be combined with ultrasound scan of the breast and then only the final report is given. No prior appointment is needed for mammography.
For jaw lesions and dental diseases OPG is useful. For cosmetic surgery OPG is a must.
Dedicated dental x-rays are available.
Image intensifier TV fluoroscopy is available in the main department, gastroenterology department and different operation theatres. With I I TV x-ray pictures can be directly seen instantaneously and operative procedures carried out.
Most expensive mobile and portable machines are available; quite useful for bedridden and ICU patients.
Recently computed radiography facility has been installed. This is the first step towards a 'filmless radiology'. Ultimately no x-ray film will be used and all the pictures will be studied on computer monitors kept at various places in the hospital.
Recently a new 1.5 T MRI has been installed. In MRI no harmful rays are used and so it is safe even to the pregnant woman.
Latest model US machines with all the sophistications are used in the department. Congenital anomalies are diagnosed at an early stage of pregnancy. Several interventional procedures are carried out under ultrasound guidance. Probably a record number of hydrostatic reduction of intussusception is done here.
For the very sick patient bed side portable USG is provided.
