Introduction

Jubilee Centre for Medical Research (JCMR) is the central research facility to all the institutions under the Jubilee Mission Hospital Trust. It is a recognised centre of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science &Technology, Govt. of India, involved in health care and allied research.

History

The current innovative patient management at Jubilee reflects the academic interest and research outcome of the pioneers. External funded researches were common from early days. A research centre to coordinate the activities started functioning in August 2010. Dr. D M Vasudevan, the well known medical researcher and recipient of Dr. B C Roy Award took over as the Director in April 2014, and JCMR became the officialresearch wing of Jubilee Trust.

The aim of JCMR is to bridge the gap between medical research and clinical practice, making the process less tedious and hassle free. Today, the clinical issues are addressed at genetic, molecular and biochemical levels to effect speedy diagnosis and treatment. The last decade witnessed the dynamic growth of this centre with improved research output in medical field. The centre has even reported a novel gene mutation in 2019 that affects sexual development in humans.
